Animal Clinic of Edgewater News
Hurricane Harvey, Irma, and Maria Animal Relief
All of us here at the Animal Clinic of Edgewater are heartbroken at the devastation in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone involved and helping these families with the devastation. However, a lot of help is not only needed for the people but for the animals as well and here at the Animal Clinic of Edgewater we would like to do whatever we can to help in the aid of the animals that have been affected by this horrible hurricane.
The Hurricane Fandom Award
The Hurricane fandom award for this beautiful truck goes to Dr. Kim Castro of Animal Clinic of Edgewater and her husband Ruben.
They will be going to the Hurricane’s bowl game on Wednesday with Dr. Castro in full Hurricane Gear! Come out and see them and root for our ‘Canes.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
Due to numerous clients on a regular basis, canceling or rescheduling appointments the same day, sometimes as late as 10 minutes before their scheduled appointment, there will now be a $25 “same day cancellation/rescheduling” fee assessed. This is a common practice in most human medical facilities and is now a policy here.
When a client cancels or reschedules without appropriate notification, it prevents someone else, with possibly a sick animal, to be seen. I have had this situation occur far too often lately and it is very frustrating when I can’t do my job.
This policy is an unfortunate must to try to improve the availability of appointments for the clients that need them.
Estimates and Payments
To the valued clients of Animal Clinic of Edgewater:
Due to the rising costs of running a medical facility and the current state of the economy, an estimate will be provided for medical services/supplies for most procedures. It is the client’s responsibility, however, to advise us if there are any financial restraints prior to any procedures being performed, even simple vaccines.
I will, or the attending veterinarian will, do my best to provide an estimate but if it is overlooked and there is a concern of what the bill may be, please do not wait until after the procedures have been performed to notify us that there is only a certain amount you can afford. We understand and pass no judgement. We can generally figure something out if it is discussed in advance. Payment is due upon services rendered so please keep us informed to avoid any misunderstandings.
Our 3 Visitors
Here at the Animal Clinic of Edgewater we are trying to help one of our clients that has fallen on some VERY HARD times. She recently lost her husband which ended up in her losing a lot more than that. She lost her house and just last week underwent surgery to amputate her foot. She is now in a nursing home for at least a month.
I was enlisted to help in this situation as she had no place for her 3 lovely dogs. All 4 were homeless but our client agreed to go in to the hospital for the amputation, which saved her life, only if there was a place for her beloved pets. We graciously agreed to help out.
